Safety & Equity of Students in Durham Public Schools - Part II: Black Parent Empowerment Workshop

Please join the Education Committees of the People's Alliance and Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People for an engaging event designed to address the specific issues black students encounter in the public school system in Durham. This event is being organized for black parents to offer discussion and advocacy tools for their children in DPS. 

The night will begin with a brief panel including representatives from PAAC (Parents of African-American Children), Village of Wisdom and the Durham Public Schools Equity Office, We ARE (Working to Extend Anti-Racist Education). Following the panel, the workshop will begin and be facilitated by the groups on the panel. Attorneys from Advocates for Children Services at Legal Aid of NC in Durham, the Youth Justice Project at a Southern Coalition for a Social Justice, and Made in Durham will also be present and involved with the workshops.

Childcare will be provided for children 2 years and older: please RSVP to L'Tanya at 919-682-7777 or [email protected] to reserve a spot by Monday, 9/11/17.

Arrive by 6:15PM if you plan to use the childcare services please. Pizza and drinks will also be provided for attendees.
