Duke Students for a National Health Program (Duke SNaHP), along with our coalition partners, including the NC Justice Center, NARAL-Pro Choice NC, Coalition of Health Care for NC, Action NC, People’s Alliance, Tuesdays with Tillis, the Poor People’s Campaign, NC NOW, NC Piedmont DSA, NC Council of Churches, and Peacemaking Network of New Hope Presbytery are co-hosting this vigil in honor of those who are suffering due to their underinsured or uninsured status and in the memory of those who have died as a result of not having access to healthcare. We are standing up for North Carolinians in need of a Medicaid expansion, as required by the Affordable Care Act but shot down by the courts. This will be a solidarity vigil from mountains to sea—many vigils will be happening this day across the state, same day, same time, because unaffordable healthcare affects all of NC! We ask that those interested RSVP because this will be a great event with speakers and a great opportunity to show solidarity with those fighting for healthcare access equity, specifically Medicaid expansion in NC to close the coverage gap.
