In times of uncertainty, many communities are rediscovering the power of song. Across the country, people are gathering to sing in the streets for justice, resilience, and community care.
Local Durham Groups like the Labor Choir and the Ceasefire Chorus have helped spark this growing movement interest in song. This tradition draws from the songs of enslaved people and the music of the Civil Rights Movement, reminding us that singing together can sustain courage when the road ahead feels heavy.
Join us for Sing Out for Justice on April 29 at 6:30pm. Doors open at 6:15pm. We are hosted by the congregation of Westminster Presbyterian in their Fellowship Hall. This event is sponsored by People's Alliance, Durham CAN and Durham Congregations in Action.
Leaders from local choruses and choirs will guide us in learning songs that will be carried into upcoming actions like the May Day. When voices rise together, courage has a way of returning.
