We are looking forward to our next membership meeting on September 11. The program will feature a presentation and conversation on the use of standardized testing in our public education system and the accompanying stress this puts on the system.
Special Guests:
Dr. Stacey Wilson-Norman, Deputy Superintendent for Academic Services for Durham Public Schools. Dr. Wilson-Norman will speak about testing at Durham Public Schools.
Dr. Pamela Grundy, Dr. Grundy is an independent historian. She is coordinator of the Southern Oral History Program's "Listening for a Change" project documenting race and desegregation at West Charlotte High School. She is also a lecturer in history at Davidson College. She holds a doctorate in history from UNC-Chapel Hill. In conjunction with her work at West Charlotte High, Grundy curated the oral history-based exhibit "Carrying the Spirit: Voices of Desegregation at West Charlotte High School" for the Levine Museum of the New South.
