The U.S. Supreme Court will hear Moore v. Harper during its 2022-2023 term. This North Carolina redistricting case is the culmination of a decades-long power grab designed to put politics over people.
In Moore, North Carolina lawmakers are arguing state legislatures should have absolute power to run federal elections, with no checks and balances from our courts.
Moore would make it even easier for state politicians to:
- create barriers to voting access
- draw rigged voting maps
- cast doubt on fair election results
BOTTOM LINE: If Moore succeeds, when it comes to federal elections, legislators would be free to violate voters' rights and state courts couldn’t stop them. It's time to put people over politics and fight back
