We have secured the 10:00am tour at Stagville Historic Site just for PA members. The Tour is Stagville and the Roots of Durham. A short description of the content is below. The board hopes this can be an informational and relaxing event for everyone who can attend.
Stagville has asked that we keep our number to 30. Please register if you are interested as the spots will fill up. There will also be hot apple cider and snacks at the Visitors after the tour. Your family is welcome to join in.
Description:
Discover the connections between the early history of Durham and one of the largest plantations in North Carolina. This outdoor guided tour will highlight the post-Emancipation history of Stagville. Hear stories of freed families who moved to Durham, how the Cameron family's wealth influenced North Carolina, and how sharecropping shaped the lives of African American families at Stagville.
This tour will last approximately 75 minutes, including both walking and driving in your own vehicle. Visitors will be standing and walking on gravel, grass, and uneven ground.
This tour will take place rain or shine! If the event is canceled due to adverse weather, PA will contact you
