DEBUNKING ECONOMIC BENEFITS OF 751 ASSEMBLAGE

The Economic Justice Committee of the Durham People’s Alliance has researched the supposed economic benefits of the 751 Assemblage, the proposed mixed-used development in southern Durham County. Its proximity to - and environmental impact upon - Jordan Lake and the region's drinking water supply is reason enough to halt this project, but the PA Economic Justice team debunks the economic benefits that the developers are touting.

    The Durham People's Alliance is sponsoring a Durham Legislative Forum on Wednesday, September 23, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at the Stanford L. Warren branch of the Durham Public Library, 1201 Fayetteville St., in Durham. This forum will be an opportunity for legislators to provide information about the latest legislative session, and for citizens to ask questions and discuss concerns about state legislation. The format will allow time for each legislator to speak for 3-5 minutes, followed by a question and answer session.

    PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE PAC VOTES ON ENDORSEMENTS

    The Durham People's Alliance PAC voted on endorsements at their September 1 meeting.
    Four incumbents were endorsed at the meeting: Mayor Bill Bell, Mayor Pro Tem Cora Cole-McFadden, and Councilmen Howard Clement and Mike Woodard .
