The NC Guilford County School Board just voted unanimously to REJECT the General Assembly's mandate of offering teachers 25% Contracts, citing them as unconstitutional! This is a major victory, y'all. Time for your local school board to follow suit! Governor McCrory just announced his plan and it's much worse than I thought. Next year, teachers who have less than 7 years experience will earn $33,000 instead of $30,800. ALL OTHER TEACHERS WILL CONTINUE TO EARN THE SAME SALARY THEY HAVE SINCE 2008. It also means that teachers with 7 and 8 years would make less than those who have been teaching for fewer years. Teachers who have 9 years experience will make $30 more per year than teachers just starting out. There is no mention of whether or not teacher's with a Master's Degree who have been teaching less than 7 years would make more than $33,000.
