Education
The PA Education Committee conducts research, organizing and advocacy for policies and practices that support the education of Durham’s public school students to be critical thinkers, problem solvers, active citizens and good stewards of their families, communities and the environment. We envision a school system that is equitable and responsive to the needs of our diverse school population.
Our goals:
1. Maintain at least the level of funding we have now for DPS.
2. Fully fund quality pre-school, including More at Four, for all families that want it.
3. Continue focussing on lowering the drop out rate and the suspension rate, particularly for children of color.
4. Bring greater transparency to the budget process and to evaluation of central office staff.
If you want to assist and be part of this active committee, or sign up to be on the email list, please contact our Education Chair.
