The Coordinating Committee meets every second Wednesday of the month.

David Harris, President

David Harris has worked in telecommunications for the past 37 years — for General Telephone & Electric (now Verizon) and as a software testing engineer for Nortel

Ryan Smith, Vice Chair

Ryan is a graduate of Duke’s Divinity School and former Director of Development for the American Dance Festival.  He currently serves as campaign Finance Director for Congressman David Price.

 

Kathryn Spann, TreasurerKathryn currently lives in Rougemont, where she recently transformed an old tobacco farm into Prodigal Farm, a farmstead dairy. She is chair of Durham’s Farmland Protection Advisory Board; and an associate supervisor on Durham’s Soil and Water Conservation District Board.

Bob Healy

 

Robert is Professor Emeritus of Environmental Policy at Duke’s Nicholas School of the Environment, where he still teaches part-time. A 24 year resident of Durham, he has long been active in efforts to protect the New Hope Creek Corridor and open it up to public use. Among his other interests are youth employment, the criminal justice system, and Latino issues.

 

 

Milo Pyne

Milo has worked in rare plant conservation and regional conservation planning with the state of Tennessee, The Nature Conservancy, and currently NatureServe. Area of Expertise (we thought you’d never ask): Solanaceae, Asteraceae

James Hill

James has served on the PA Coordinating Committee for the past two years. Active throughout the Durham community, James is a Commissioner on the City of Durham Human Relations Commission and a member of the City of Durham Citizens Capital Improvement Panel (CCIP). He is currently an MPA candidate at North Carolina Central University.

Page McCullough

Page works for the Rural School and Community Trust, a national organization which “addresses the crucial relationship between good schools and thriving communities”. She and her dog, BeeBeau, also watch over and advocate for the renovation of Northgate Park.

Shamieka Rhinehart

Shamieka has been an Assistant District Attorney for the past 5 ½ years for Durham County. She prosecutes cases involving property and fraud cases.

Sara Terry

With an undergraduate degree in biology and an masters in public administration, Sara is an air quality policy wonk with the US EPA.  After three years with the Peace Corps in the Democratic Republic of Congo and a couple years with EPA in DC, Sara moved to North Carolina in 1994.  Busy with three kids, who attend Durham Public Schools, Sara tries to keep a finger on the pulse of local politics, local environmental and LGBT issues, and enjoys traveling near and far.

Dan Hudgins

Dan is the former Director for the County Social Services agency. He is currently faculty at the School of Social Work at UNC.
